Travis Williams is an architect and founding principal of In Parallel Architects + Builders.  As the leader of the Grand Rapids studio, he is involved in all aspects of the practice including design, project management, and client relations.  As architecture is a “team sport,” Travis is invested in collaborating with team members inside and outside of IP-AB.  He is interested in design solutions that creatively deal with input from many directions and celebrates project-specific contexts that make each client relationship and design project unique.  He is immersed in the discussion, understanding, and problem solving surrounding the part-to-whole relationships present in the architectural project. His work seeks to technically, spatially, and conceptually engage with this project.

Travis has worked on projects across the United States ranging from immaterial ideas to small objects to large buildings during stints in Grand Rapids, MI at AMDG Architects; in Boston, MA at Anmahian Winton Architects, WOJR Organization for Architecture, and Kennedy & Violich Architecture; as well as in Los Angeles, CA at RoTo Architects and Studio Works Architects.

In addition to his engagement in architectural practice, Travis has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the Kendall College of Art & Design of Ferris State University in Grand Rapids, MI and at the Boston Architectural College in Boston, MA.  Additional teaching experience includes time as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  He lives in Grand Rapids, MI with his wife and kids and enjoys being outside, thinking about patterns, and both Star Wars and Star Trek (and almost any other science fiction).
